newKiwami is Japanese for ‘the ultimate’ and at Yamaha it stands for the best-equipped version. The Kodiak 450 Kiwami has heated grips with a thumb warmer, hand guards against wind and rain, baskets on the front and rear racks and a sturdy seat cover. On top of that come painted bodywork in beige and blue and cast aluminium wheels, so it looks smart as well.
The liquid-cooled, fuel-injected 421 cc single-cylinder engine delivers smooth low-end torque, and the Ultramatic transmission provides engine braking on all wheels. Electric power steering (EPS) keeps steering light, and On-Command lets you choose 2WD, 4WD or 4WD with diff lock. With KYB gas shocks (171 mm of travel front, 189 mm rear) and 245 mm of ground clearance, you ride comfortably over uneven terrain.
Compact yet full-size: thanks to the mid-size body and low centre of gravity, it is easy to manoeuvre in tight spaces, while you still sit comfortably. A 2,500 lb WARN VRX 25 winch and a 2-inch towbar are standard, the racks carry 120 kg combined and you can tow up to 600 kg. Available unregistered or with an agricultural registration (T).
